What we like / What could be better
What we like
- Your withdrawal is never reduced by tax, whatever the size of the win.
- Remote Gaming Duty is paid by the operator, so it never shows up as a deduction on your statement.
- Slimking's tracked welcome offer, £850 + 200 free spins, sits well above the usual first-deposit match on this list.
- Debit card, PayPal and Trustly cover deposits and withdrawals without needing a credit card, which the Gambling Commission banned in 2020.
What could be better
- Wagering requirements for Slimking's welcome and reload offers aren't published anywhere we could find, so you can't calculate the real cost of the bonus before you opt in.
- Payment methods, game providers and withdrawal times aren't listed for the other seven operators on this list as of our last check.
- We've only timed withdrawals on three operators across the wider site so far, and none of them are on this specific list.
No, UK casino winnings aren't taxed
UK tax law does not touch gambling winnings, full stop. Win £50 on a spin or £50,000 on a progressive jackpot, and the whole amount is yours. This has been the rule since March 2001, when the government scrapped the old General Betting Duty that punters used to pay indirectly through the odds.
The change moved the tax burden onto operators instead of players. HMRC now collects duty on the casino's gross profit, not on what lands in your account. That's true whether you play on a UK high street machine or an online slot from your phone.
Nothing about this depends on how much you win, how often you win, or which casino you play at. An £850 welcome offer and a £5 spin at any other site follow exactly the same rule.
How gambling duty actually works for operators
HMRC doesn't run one gambling tax. It runs several, and which one applies depends on the product, not the player.
- General Betting Duty: 15% on the operator's margin from fixed-odds bets and spread bets.
- Remote Gaming Duty: 21% on the operator's gross profit from online casino, poker and bingo.
- Machine Games Duty: charged on land-based slot cabinets by category, again on the operator.
All three sit on the licence holder's side of the ledger. None of them appear as a line item on your withdrawal, and none of them reduce what you cash out. If a site ever tells you it deducted tax from a payout, that's not how UK gambling duty works, and it's worth asking support to explain the deduction properly.
What counts as gambling for tax purposes
The rule doesn't care what you were playing. Slots, blackjack, roulette, live casino tables, bingo, poker and sports betting all sit under the same principle: the player keeps the winnings, the operator pays the duty.
There's no harsher category for skill games like poker just because strategy is involved, and no softer category for pure luck games like slots. HMRC's position has stayed consistent since 2001, regardless of format or platform.
What 'tax free casino' really means
Search for tax free casino and you'll find pages implying some operators are more tax-free than others. They aren't. Every UK-facing casino sits under the same rule, because the tax-free part comes from HMRC's treatment of gambling winnings generally, not from anything a specific operator does.
What actually varies between casinos is everything else: the size of the welcome offer, whether the wagering requirement is published anywhere you can find it, which payment methods clear a withdrawal, and how much of the site works on mobile before you've even created an account. That's the comparison worth making, and it's the one below.
What you actually keep from a win
Take a £500 win from a slot session. In the UK, £500 lands in your account. There's no 20% held back for a tax authority, no form to file with HMRC, no withholding statement to reconcile later.
Compare that to markets where the player pays: in the US, casinos withhold federal tax on wins over certain thresholds before the money even reaches you. UK players never see that deduction, on any size of win, on any game.
Where to play: UK-facing casinos we track
The tax-free rule applies everywhere, so the decision comes down to what each casino actually offers once you're signed up. We track eight operators serving UK players, and the honest state of our data varies a lot between them.
Slimking is the only one on this list with published bonus terms we can quote directly: an £850 + 200 free spins welcome offer, a 77% weekly reload up to £600 + 50 free spins, a 50% weekend reload up to £600 + 50 free spins, and a 15% cashback up to £2,500. None of the four state a wagering multiplier anywhere we could find, which means you can't work out the real cost of the bonus before you opt in.
The other seven, Winbeast, HiddenJack, EliteSpin, MamaBet, Betory, BinoBet and KokoBet, all show 100+ games in their lobby, but none publish payment methods or game studios on the pages we checked. Here's the current shortlist:

A wagering requirement without a base is half a number: 35x on the bonus alone costs a fraction of 35x on the deposit and bonus combined. None of the four Slimking offers state a multiplier at all, so there's nothing to calculate yet. If that changes, we'll update this table with the multiplier and the base it applies to.
Payment methods on the UK market
UK-facing casinos generally build their cashier around three rails: debit card, PayPal and Trustly. Credit cards have been off the table since April 2020, when the Gambling Commission banned them for all forms of remote and non-remote gambling.
Debit card deposits clear instantly. Withdrawals back to a card typically take longer, because the money has to travel back through the card network rather than settling in an e-wallet. PayPal and Trustly tend to move both ways faster, which is why players often set one of them up before they play rather than after their first win.
We haven't been able to confirm which of these rails Winbeast, HiddenJack, EliteSpin, Slimking, MamaBet, Betory, BinoBet or KokoBet actually support. Their cashier pages didn't list payment methods on the day we checked, so treat accepts debit card as an assumption until you see it in your own account, not a fact we've verified for this list.
What we haven't verified yet
We'd rather tell you the gap than paper over it. Across the wider site, we've timed withdrawals on three operators so far, none of them on this specific list, so we have no payout-speed number to give you for any of the eight casinos above. We also haven't checked landing-page availability for UK visitors across the market yet.
What we do have, checked on 4 August 2026: Slimking's tracked bonus terms above, and confirmation that its site runs mobile-first, with Live Casino, Sportsbook, Jackpots, Tournaments, a Bonus Store and VIP rewards as its main sections. The signup page itself quotes a different figure, 100% up to €1,000 + 200 FS in euros, which doesn't match the £850 + 200 FS we track in our bonus data. We publish the tracked figure, not the marketing copy on the landing page, and you should expect to see the number confirmed again once you're logged into your own account.
